The National Weather Center Biennale is open to artists of any nationality over the age of 18. Acceptable media categories include paintings in oil, acrylic, gouache & watercolor, works on paper including all dry media (graphite, colored pencil, pastel, etc.) and hand-pulled prints and photography. Watercolor and gouache will be considered in the works on paper category. No giclees or off-set lithography. All work accepted for exhibition must not exceed 60 x 60 inches and 50 lbs in weight and must be suitably fitted with "D" rings or wire for hanging. Gallery-wrap canvas or cradled panel is acceptable as long as the sides are neatly painted/finished. Works on paper and photography must be framed and glazed with acrylic/plexi-glass. All work must have been created within the last two years. Non-eligible work includes art created in a classroom setting or under supervision, copies or reproductions of original works or compositions from published sources or based on another artists work.
Entries will be judged from high-resolution electronic images uploaded to the National Weather Center Biennale website. Files must be in TIF or EPS format, at a minimum of 300 dpi at approximately 8 x 10. No file compression software may be used. Images that do not meet the minimum specifications will be disqualified and the artist entry fee forfeited. Those artists chosen for exhibition will receive immediate email notice of their selection, all others will be notified by mass email.
Artists may enter up to three works in any combination of categories. The entry fee is $25 for the first entry and $10 for each subsequent entry.
Work need not be available for purchase to be eligible for juror awards. Sales of work must take place after the conclusion of the exhibition and are the responsibility of the Artist and/or their agent and the purchaser. The purchaser assumes all responsibility for the removal and shipment of art from the exhibition space. Your entry grants permission to photograph your work and to use your images for promotional and educational purposes only.
Delivery, Shipping and Insurance
Selected artists will ship or deliver works to the National Weather Center, 120 David L. Boren Blvd. Norman, Oklahoma 73072, to the attention of the NWC Biennale. Shipped work must be sent in a reusable container. The artist is responsible for the cost of both Shipment and insuring the work during shipment. Settlement for works damaged in transit remains the responsibility of the artist and the shipper. Works that are hand-delivered must also be picked-up by the artist, or the artist's agent. The National Weather Center Biennale will insure all works from the date of their delivery and in the course of their return shipment. The National Weather Center Biennale will assume the cost of returning all exhibited works of art received from Artists working outside of a 300 mile radius from Norman, Oklahoma.
A fully illustrated catalog will be produced to accompany the National Weather Center Biennale. A complimentary catalog will be sent to each selected artist. Extra copies of the catalog may be purchased for $25 plus tax.
